Pedal Car Racing in Hong Kong

Once a year in Hong Kong there is an incredible event, a 24 hour pedalcar race to raise money for charity.

Some of the cars are very seriously built for speed, and some are much more whimsical. Check out the videos and you'll see what I mean. I hope you enjoy them.

The cars are very high tech, carbon fiber, titanium, wind tunnel tested, and very expensive, up to $60,000 U.S.

They are funded by corporations, and manned by teams of volunteers who prepare by running, biking, and spending hours in simulators to build up their endurance.

The event starts with a procession of a local school marching band followed by the parade of cars. Then it is off to the races.

During the race, team members take turns in the car, and yes, they do it for 24 hours straight.
