Once a year in Hong Kong there is an incredible event, a 24 hour pedalcar race to raise money for charity.
Some of the cars are very seriously built for speed, and some are much more whimsical. Check out the videos and you'll see what I mean. I hope you enjoy them.
The cars are very high tech, carbon fiber, titanium, wind tunnel tested, and very expensive, up to $60,000 U.S.
They are funded by corporations, and manned by teams of volunteers who prepare by running, biking, and spending hours in simulators to build up their endurance.
The event starts with a procession of a local school marching band followed by the parade of cars. Then it is off to the races.
During the race, team members take turns in the car, and yes, they do it for 24 hours straight.

Fire Truck Pedal Car

The fire truck pedal car is one of the most popular pedal cars available and the Deluxe Sadface Firetruck by American-Retro is a great example of the quality metal retro styled pedal firetrucks currently available.
We are often asked if the rear "step" (shown in the photo above) on the Deluxe Sadface Fire truck manufactured by American-Retro will hold a child.
The answer is a definite No!
Adults should make sure that children are supervised when playing with any ride-on-toy including pedal cars. Care should be taken to make sure a child does not try to stand on the rear tail gate. This includes occasions when one child may be in the car and a second child wants to tag along. This applies to all toy ride-on fire trucks that have a rear tail-gate that may appear to be a 'step' (regardless of the model or manufacturer).
